The Terrain – Anthropologic
Two great backdrops of human history are beginning to move.

The first is geopolitical.
The second is planetary.

The Terrain: Anthropolitik – Real Politik in the Anthropocene

The 100-year fossils-based liberal order that shaped the twentieth century is breaking down.

The 11 000-year Holocene stability that cradled civilisation is ending.

Humanity now faces transitions in energy, technology, ecology and power simultaneously.

Over the coming decades they will redistribute power and reshape the physical, digital and philosophical spaces available to humanity.

Security dilemmas are back. Risks abound. The mutations of planet, power, society, intelligence and the norms that define humaneness are now bending the trajectories of biological, technological and civilisational evolution.

These transformations define realpolitik in the Anthropocene: Anthropolitik. We’re building the frame to analyze it, navigate risks, and work towards transition coherence.

The future is not predetermined.
Yet, neither is it infinitely open.
We are among those helping to shape it.
Humanity has entered a new political, philosophical, ecological, cultural and technological era:
the Planetary.
The Practice: Planetary Security
Whether humane politics survive this century will depend on our capacity to navigate the tensions emerging between planetary boundaries, technological acceleration, ideological extremes and geostrategic competition of a different kind.
The challenge is not merely technical.
It is political, ethical and civilisational.
The responsibility is ours to shape the direction of transformations at play, and it is the work of generations to come.
This is why we contribute to building the field of Planetary Security: the ethics, laws, governance, cooperation frameworks, economics and security arrangements will help humanity rise up to its planetary responsibilities and possibilities.
The dilemmas: humanity’s eye-of-the-needle transitions

The journey towards planetary responsibilisation entails navigating new forms of dilemmas.

Each transition domain carries a contradiction at its core.

These contradictions are not problems to be solved away – they are the pressures that will force the reinvention of politics, economics and technology.

These dilemmas are reshaping us as humans, societies, civilisations and as a species. Gaining clarity on them is the first step towards reclaiming agency and directionality.
On the far side of these dilemmas lies a deeper question: what will become of peace and security under planetary conditions.
We call that horizon Pax Planetaria. We build for this long-haul vision.
Transition Intelligence exists to incubate the ideas that will shape the planetary age now and to build the relationships and systems that will carry them into existence.
